The Magic You Possess

Within a month of completing the rewrites for my soon to be released book, Raise Your Frequency & Manifest Abundance. A guide for Empaths, Intuitives and the Sensitive, my daughter told me she needed to get a second mammogram. They saw “something” in the first one. Even though we both tried to be positive, we knew that there was an issue. After the second mammogram there was a biopsy, a too long of a wait for results, then the diagnosis of breast cancer. What followed was tears, a whirlwind of doctor visits, difficult decisions and eventually surgery. A short time after the surgery, she developed a serious lung infection, plural effusion and then sepsis.

My day to day was spent going to the hospital to visit my daughter and taking care of my granddaughters. I was grateful that the new book which took over five years to write had finally been completed. Writing the book, helped me in an unexpected way. In the darkest days and nights of my daughter’s illness, I acutely felt the pain, fear and distress that we were all experiencing  When her young daughters cried in fear of losing their mother and there was no good news on the horizon, the despair was heavy and thick. Still, there was a quiet inner knowing, a small silent voice of light that never left me. It shone brighter then the shadows and assured me that I wasn’t alone.

Our intuitive, empathic and high sensitivity is a doorway through which the power of all goodness flows. This force of love is always present and more powerful than illness, fear and lack. Despite appearances, in the presence of divine love I felt and knew in my heart that all was well.

This awareness doesn’t always come easy. During those five years of writing the material for my new book, I often felt as if I was blindfolded and feeling my way through a vast space with only mysterious clues as to how to make my way through. I knew I was being guided and led. Yet, as is often the way with the spiritual realm, I felt hopelessly lost. Eventually pieces of the puzzle began to make sense. Then as I finished the manuscript, it’s truth seemed simple and obvious.

The process of writing the book almost seemed like a metaphor for its content. We may at times have the fleeting insight that there is more to being an empath, intuitive or highly sensitive than tuning into, feeling and absorbing the energy of others and our surroundings. A quiet yearning and nudge from our heart and soul might remind us that we can live with more ease and the assurance that we are loved and watched over. We may have glimpses that we can receive grace and our highest good can naturally unfold. But we don’t know the role that our sensitivity to energy plays in living this more bountiful life.

All too often we are burdened with the challenges that come with being an empath. The tendency to feel and absorb the difficult emotions and negativity of others, follows us wherever we go. Through disappointment and pain we may learn that our desire to help the lost and lonely and be of service, makes us easy targets for those who would take advantage. We often over focus on protecting ourselves and feel that we are at the mercy of the sometimes noisy, insensitive and negative world. While we want to further explore the endless possibilities of our innate abilities, it sometimes feels as if we are stuck in a maze of energy. All too often we are blind to or don’t believe in the true potential that being an empath, intuitive or highly sensitive offers us.

Although it doesn’t always seem to be true, being an empath, intuitive and highly sensitive is a gift of immeasurable value. The innate ability to sense, feel and absorb energy empowers us to receive and fill our being with the higher vibrations of divine energy. It is in this flow of higher  consciousness that we connect with unceasing divine creative activity. The energy we absorb in this higher frequency manifests in the conditions and circumstances of our everyday life as our highest good. Equally as important and essential, we are able to inspire others and give and share the abundance that we enjoy. Ours is a new way.

Our lack of awareness of the magic of our empathic, intuitive and sensitive nature and our ability to use these gifts for our greater good reminds me of Dorothy in the movie, The Wizard of Oz. She finds herself lost in a strange place searching for her way home. It is not until she looks down to see that she is wearing ruby slippers that she is reminded that just by clicking them together she will be transported home. Like Dorothy’s ruby slippers our sensitivity to energy can transport us home into our expansive potential and the manifestation of our highest good.

It is a massive relief to get your newsletter, I was worried you were in the mountains. What an ordeal your daughter has been through! I think you and my ESL professor when I was working on my MEd might be around the same age, and her daughter also had breast cancer. Here in my mid-50’s I am seeing friends die, so far is has been men, chronic stress is some of it, and I feel like there could be generational things. I am trying to caution people my age about substances and also, in the mountains, taking it easy enough. I love that your grandkids got to spend time with you! I am so relieved, and I don’t know where you are, but if you are in the mountains, I am praying extra.

When I woke up this morning and received your email my prayers were answered. I have been feeling so alone and discouraged with all the challenges that I have experienced throughout my life. Last night I was asking for help and guidance so that I can enjoy my time here on earth and not simply survive it. I listened to your video and read your blog. Thank you. I look forward to reading your book. As you know, we are all connected. It is through this connection that I (and all the many people that you have helped) will be able to send positive, loving and healing energy to you and your family. Please embrace this “light” and allow it to bring you peace. Love and blessings.
